Spoleto (Pg). Now in its second year after the departure of the Menotti clan at its helm, the Spoleto festival-edition number 52-is once more back to its founding vocation as a chance for young talent to emerge and will run from June 26th to July 12th. Woody Allen will be directing his first ever opera, Puccini�s Gianni Schicchi, which will open the festival at the Teatro Nuovo on June 26th and continue to run until the 28th. The Orchestra Sinfonica Giuseppe Verdi from Milan will be conducted by James Conlon, with Sir Thomas Allen in the role of Schicchi (Teatro Nuovo June 26th�28th). The German choreographer Pina Bausch will be premiering her show Bamboo Blues, created in 2007 as a co-production with the Goethe-Institut in India. The performances at the Teatro Nuovo from July 4th to 6th are Bausch�s only engagements in Italy for this year. Robert Wilson will be offering one of his rare appearances on stage in a production of Beckett�s Krapp�s Last Tape, while the great Adriana Asti will be in Giorni Felici at the Caio Melisso on June 27th and from July 2nd to 5th).
