On November 9th Città di Castello wil be holding its Medieval pageant, the "Offerta della Cera", which dates back to the 16th century when the Podestà was accompanied by the city's Priori, nobles and confraternities to place the 52 candles before the tomb of the patron saint of the city, St Florido. The building was originally used for accommodating the canons of the Cathedral: bearing witness to this far gone era, the imposing doorways have remained in the corridor, that still allow for access to the Cathedral today as they did then.
