The Rocca di Mantignana
This
stone fortress dates back to 1100 and is near the ancient hamlet
of Mantignana, immersed in the green Umbrian countryside, not far
from Perugia, Lake Trasimene and a prestigious golf
club. Once
a nobleman’s residence, the Rocca di Mantignana occupies
a surface of some 850 square metres, with outbuildings totalling an
additional 140 square metres. The land around the fortress covers
25,000 square metres, of which 10,000 are surrounded by a
perimeter wall erected in 1750. The main body of the fortress and its
outbuildings have been converted into a total of 10 apartments of
various sizes, able to sleep a total of 46. 8 apartments are in the
main body and 2 in a former barn. Arranged on various floors, the
apartments are all equipped with modern comforts and furnished with
taste. The quality finishings fully reflect the original structure of
the building.
The apartments are divided into four
different categories:
- 2+2
pax (sitting room with kitchenette and fireplace, double bedroom,
children’s room with bunk beds, bathroom with tub, veranda)
- 4
pax (entrance, sitting room with kitchenette and elevation with
two single beds, double bedroom, bathroom with shower)

pax (sitting room with kitchenette, double bedroom with
additional single bed and own bathroom with shower, double bedroom
with additional single bed and own bathroom with tub) 8 pax
(sitting room with kitchenette and fireplace, terrace, double
bedroom, double bedroom with bathroom and tub. A wooden staircase in
the sitting room leads up to an elevation with a bedroom containing
four single beds and a bathroom with shower).
Guests have free
use of the garden and its shady areas, the swimming pool
(15m. x 7.5m.) and equipped sunbathing area, the covered
parking. The use of the tennis court and laundry room
is at an extra cost.
The antique cellar of the fortress has
been converted into a rustic eating area with fireplace and
a restaurant serving typical Umbrian cuisine. Guests are welcome to
