The Restaurant Da Angelo is open to guests and is in
the same building as the hotel, which it predates.
But the
family-run atmosphere of the restaurant has remained over the
decades. The restaurant was in fact started purely by chance
shortly after the Second World War when a group of tourists
asked if they could have something to eat. They were given the
same food as the labourers working in the countryside and were
so pleased that they left a sizeable tip for the inconvenience.
Since then, the restaurant has gradually improved and become
more and more functional over the decades, growing from Osteria to
Ristorante status and can now seat up to 250 people in a hall
overlooking the Assisi Valley.
We are able to cater for banquets,
working lunches, anniversaries and any kind of ceremony.
A broad range of cuisine is served at the restaurant, ranging
from traditional Umbrian dishes to starters, home made pasta,
grilled meat, game, fish or even just pizza cooked in the
wood-burning oven, all washed down with some of Italy’s finest
regional wines. The open air terrace is ideal for eating out
during the summer months and, along with the swimming pool, is
the perfect setting for entertaining.
Designed to suit all
pockets, the restaurant’s menu is either a la carte or fixed for
pilgrims who need a quick, cheap meal.
TYPICAL PRODUCE:
Umbria’s best known regional product, aside its truffles,
boletus mushrooms and wines, has to be extra virgin olive oil.
The oil produced in the Assisi area is certified with a
protected origin label known as DOP "Umbria sottozona Colli
Assisi-Spoleto", and is made from 60% Moraiolo and 40% Leccino
and Frantoio olives.
Guests who come and stay at the hotel during the olive gathering
season are free to watch the entire process from picking to
pressing, and even taste some bruschetta with the year’s new
oil.
